It could have been mistaken as an Alla' Czar family reunion! The well known sire Alla' Czar owned by Camille Greer and DarkHorse Farm, had numerous offspring competing at this years IHF West Coast Regional competition. The competition was held at the beautiful ShowPark facility on August 20th and 21st.

Best Young Horse "Czartistic"
The challenge series classes demonstrated the quality that IHF breeders strive for each year. The winner of the 2 yr old filly class was Czartistic by Alla' Czar out of Rowdy Alphabet by Rowdy Regal. This very attrative filly who is currently leading the nation in the 2 yr old hunter breeding division was also named Best Young Horse and awarded the Scho Me The Magic challenge trophy. Renae Coates of Gilbert, AZ bred the filly. Renae commented that the filly was easy to break and train as a young horse and is mentally very mature for her age. Reserve Best Young Horse was Pajama Talk by Aristos B. This fancy moving chestnut yearling is owned by Robin Parsky and bred by Buena Vista Farms.

For the first time the West Coast Regionals offered a 2 yr old under saddle class with a $500 purse and lots of special prizes as well. The winner of this very competitive class was Czanne who is by Alla' Czar out of Mariattaful by Sportful. This good moving chestnut colt is owned by Lisa Coletto-Cohen and was ridden to victory by Penny Wahler.

Day number two of the competition was for the 3 and 4 year old performance divisions. The three year olds led the day off with Czulu by Alla' Czar out of Glass Slipper by Bonjour winning both the conformation over fences and the working over fences classes. This young stallion hopes to follow in his famous dads footsteps and become a leading sire someday. Renae Coates rode the attractive dark bay horse for Camille Greer and her DarkHorse Farm. Renae stated that Czulu is a gentleman to ride and is "kicking quiet". "The jumps are very easy for him and he doesn't look at anything. The more color the better". The 3 year old under saddle class was won by another stallion, Winter Gold by All the Gold out of Winter Rose by Schoenfelder. This handsome dark dappled grey horse showed in the challenge series and won his 3 year old class and the under saddle as well. Diane Yaeger handles the horse for owner Leslie Nielsen. Diane said they had just started the horse over fences but did not feel he was ready to do the futurity this year.

Reserve overall champion in the 3 year old performance was the very good jumping horse Czantana by Alla' Czar out of Montanna by Amagun. This big bay gelding is owned by Kim Nopar and was purchased as a 2 year old in hopes of being Kim's amateur hunter in the future. Kim was on hand to watch her young horse jump around under the capable hands of Rachel Jensen and was thrilled to see him do some of his first courses.

The four year old champion was Steal the Scho by Schoenfelder out of Alia by Hoist the Silver. Becky Warner rode this good jumping bay gelding for owner Jennifer Kasten. This horse was purchased after Warner spotted him last year at the 3 year old finals in Lexington, KY. Her client was looking for a nice young horse to bring along and eventually compete in the adult hunter division. He has been the perfect match for Jennifer who calls him her dream horse! Steal the Scho won all 3 classes to become the 4 year old champion. Reserve champion in the division was Claret a Thoroughbred by Absolute out of Running Scared by Running Acres owned and bred by Lindy Essau.

Many generous sponsors donated great prizes for the competition this year with bridles, halters, saddle pads, picture frames and an array of horse care products, which were handed out to the lucky winners.
